My father (Hank), god rest his soul, started out building this place when I was twenty one. I did most of the wiring in here. He was a trader and dealer in all sorts of things. At one time we had about fifty antique clocks in the house. I made the mistake of winding about thirty of them and it was a week before you could get any sleep. Thirty clocks chiming and playing songs at one time is a racket. He traded in antique guns, shop machines , of course, and everything else for fun and profit. It was swap and trade to build Hank Breedlove Machine Co. I, Jerry is the name, was gone most of the time. Started out with four years in the marine corps, came back for a few years, went to Florida for about 15 years, and finally came back when pops wanted to retire. Course he never did. Hung around the shop helping me and working on his antique cars. His latest thing to play with. He lived long and he lived happy. I can only hope to do so well. Jerry L. This is the place as seen from the front. It spreads way on back. We started with one building and just kept adding on. It's a complex of rooms and garage and sheds and docks. The foundry, which consists of two parts, sets behind this one. Almost as big. However this is an old fashion machine shop. No automatic machines and no computers. I do this stuff by hand, one at a time, just like in the old days. |
